Founded in 1985, Ujima is Dartmouth’s oldest dance organization. The
term “Ujima” is one of seven Kwanzaa principles meaning “collective work
and responsibility.” As a student-run group, we take pride our name as a
core value that distinguishes our work, performance, and group dynamic.
And as a family, we are committed to utilizing our passion for dance to
inspire and to transcend boundaries within diverse communities.
Although our repertoire includes a variety of different styles (from
African to jazz) Ujima currently focuses on hip-hop dance and style.
